On Quotes

Language is, by definition, arbitrary. There are no universal rules nor any conformity to language, and the path between words and thought is shrouded in the mysteries of our subconscious. The language pipeline, as I call it, has fascinated me for years. Understanding why certain words in certain contexts invoke certain thoughts and emotions is, in my opinion, one of humanity's greatest questions.

When I come across a quote I consider to be profound, I'll consider not only the impact of its meaning, but the brevity of the language itself. I have almost certainly seen each of any given quote's constituting words individually; it's the structure and the usage that truly makes a quote phonomial. Because of this, you might not find certain quotes as moving as I do.
